What is Sport Psychology?
Sport Psychology is the science of the behaviour applied to exercise and sport participation. Increasing numbers of athletes and coaches are using sport psychologists to help them gain a personal and competitve edge to manage stress and anxiety more effectively, improve concentration and motivation, increase confidence and promote better communication. This field had been percolating for 70 years, yet many people think of it as a commonsensical mind games.
The first steps
- After discussion of your performance or issues with your coach decide what your specific needs are.
- Pick a consultant from the list of approved Psychologists here(proximitity may be important)
- Make contact with your chosen consultant.
- After initial consultation, your consultant may wish to include your coach in the process.
- After a series of sessions targeting a particular issue you are expected to become empowered and may no longer require the same level of intensive support.
- Use the online feedback mechanism inorder for us to improve our standard of services
